Lead Thermal Analysis Engineer
Job Description
Our Lead Thermal Analysis Engineer provides management support and technical leadership to the group performing a subdiscipline of mechanical engineering across all projects and programs. This includes directing the work of individual contributors, providing organizational support for project teams, and assisting with the design, analysis and drafting of systems, structures, and components for various advanced reactor plants.
Responsibilities
Support the execution of mechanical design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program / project requirements.
This role may include specialization in one or more of the following areas:
Thermosystems – Lead team responsible for performing thermodynamic system analysis to inform the design, manufacturing, construction, and licensing strategy of various advanced reactor plants.
Manage the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensure qualified engineers are performing assigned work.
Lead design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers, ensuring delivery of high‑quality engineering work products on schedule and within budget.
May manage mechanical engineering staff, ensuring they meet expectations and promoting their professional development.
Influence and support the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for the area of responsibility.
Interpret internal business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.
Use judgment to support decision‑making and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, technology, or engineering.
Plan and perform analysis required to assess aspects of the SSCs to ensure they can perform their intended functions and meet technical specifications and design requirements.
Perform computations utilizing hand calculations and analytical tools for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations as required by project leads and systems engineers.
Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear power plants.
Perform work in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation, facilitation of design reviews, and control of product design configuration data.
Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
Typically, seven years of engineering experience. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
Experience and/or knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas:
Thermodynamics – Use of 1D flow‑solvers performing heat/energy and mass balance (e.g., RELAP, Flownex, NPSS, SINDA/FLUINT, Flomaster, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
Nuclear industry background.
Experience with 1D thermal‑hydraulics modeling both steady‑state and transient.
People management experience.

Work Site Expectations 4 days in office
Hours Standard office schedule: 8:00 am‑5:00 pm ET, Monday‑Friday
Compensation Expected compensation range: $108,375 – $180,625. Individual offers will be based on education, training, experience, and qualifications.
