Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Specialist Department Pharmacy/Infusion Center Location: Chicago, IL (Southwest Side) – Safety Net Hospital

Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday–Friday, No Weekends)

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Specialist to join our dedicated team in providing comprehensive oncology pharmacy services. This full-time position is based in our pharmacy/infusion center and offers a unique opportunity to work with an underserved patient population at a safety net hospital on Chicago’s southwest side. The Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Specialist will play a vital role in chart review, chemotherapy order verification, treatment plan entry, patient counseling, infusion rounds, formulary management, and drug procurement.

The role also includes training pharmacy residents and ensuring compliance with USP 797/800 standards, investigational drug services, and institutional protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Perform chart reviews and verify oncology treatment orders for accuracy and safety.

Enter treatment plans and ensure seamless chemotherapy regimen implementation.

Provide direct patient counseling on chemotherapy, supportive care, and medication management.

Conduct infusion rounds with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care.

Manage the oncology formulary, including drug procurement and inventory oversight.

Train and mentor pharmacy residents in oncology pharmacy practice.

Ensure compliance with USP 797/800 standards, investigational drug protocols, and institutional safety regulations.

Utilize EPIC, DoseEdge, and Omnicell to support efficient pharmacy operations.

Qualifications

Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) certification.

Strong knowledge of oncology pharmacy practice, infusion therapy, and chemotherapy safety standards.

Familiarity with EPIC, DoseEdge, and Omnicell workflow.

Experience with USP 797/800 compliance and investigational drug services.

Preferred

Experience in a hospital-based or infusion center setting.

Previous involvement in resident or student training.

Strong problem-solving and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
