Linux System Admin
to support a large-scale defense contract located in
San Diego, CA
through 100% on site presence. The
Linux System Admin
will build, configure, and maintain Linux servers and storage in a high-availability enterprise environment, implement security hardening, manage backups, and collaborate across teams to ensure reliability and data center operations.
Responsibilities
Build, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux servers and user workstations in a large enterprise environment
Manage storage and backup solutions (including NetApp mounting and NetBackup) to ensure data center reliability and availability
Implement security hardening and compliance for classified systems following ICD-503 and other standards
Design and maintain workgroup-scale networks and authentication services LDAP, Active Directory) for cross-platform environments
Develop and maintain automation scripts (Ansible, Shell, PowerCLI) for deployment and system management
Collaborate across teams to support infrastructure scalability, performance monitoring, and proactive system improvements
Qualifications
5+ years of Linux administration experience, especially with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Storage and backup expertise (NetApp monitoring, NetBackup or similar tools)
Scripting and automation skills - Ansible preferred, Shell, Perl, PowerCLI, PowerShell
Active Top Secret clearance
Virtualization experience with VMware VSXi, cloud familiarity is a plus
Security compliance knowledge (ICD-503, RMF) and ability to obtain a Security+ (IAT II) within 6 months of hire
Compensation
Salary Range: $125,000-150,000 depending on experience
