The Thirteen is a professional choir and orchestra based in metropolitan Washington, D.C. with a mission to inspire the soul to sing, move the heart to empathy, and build community, all through groundbreaking musical performance.

Responsibilities

Marketing and Communications

Implement marketing campaigns, drafting and scheduling print, email, radio, and social media placements

Film and edit brief promotional videos

Manage routine website updates

Oversee production of print material with printing company and mail house

Coordinate outreach efforts for audience development, including research and drafting associated marketing materials

Maintain constituent database, develop reports, and ensure data integrity

Organize and maintain digital assets (photo and video)

Lead customer service for the organization through email and phone communications

Operations

Manage donor‑related data entry; process gift acknowledgements

Participate in Front of House responsibilities for concerts and special events

Oversee merchandise inventory, music library, and archives

Attend rehearsals as needed

Other duties as assigned

Candidate Profile

Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management; strong project management skills

Excellent communication skills, in both speaking and writing

A customer service mindset; sensitivity to patron and artist needs

Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and iMovie (or other simple video editor) is required. Experience with box office ticketing software or systems, constituent relationship management systems, Mailchimp, Instagram, and Canva is preferred

Adaptability, an entrepreneurial spirit, and excitement at the challenge of working with a small team in a growing arts organization; support of The Thirteen’s mission and values

Able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds (boxes, etc.)

Flexibility to regularly work outside regular office hours for concerts/events, with reliable access to a vehicle for transportation needs. Available for attendance at The Thirteen rehearsals, concerts, and events. Occasional out of town travel required

Able to perform most work remotely; available for in‑person work one day per week; during rehearsal/performance weeks, be present at rehearsals as needed and all performances

Residence near, and travel within the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area

Education And Experience

Education: a bachelor’s degree in a related field; background in music or arts administration is a plus

Experience: 2+ years experience in marketing or development in music administration is a strong plus; experience working in arts administration and/or the performing arts is preferred

Compensation

$52,500 – $55,000, commensurate with experience

4 weeks vacation per year, most of which is expected to be taken in the summer

10 paid holidays per year; generous sick leave and family leave
