Software Development Engineer, ML Systems, Annapurna Labs About Amazon Annapurna Labs: Amazon Annapurna Labs team is responsible for building innovation in silicon and software for AWS customers. We combine cloud scale with the world’s most talented engineers across silicon engineering, hardware design, software, and operations. Our team improves AWS cloud infrastructure in high-performance machine learning with AWS Neuron, Inferentia and Trainium ML chips, in networking and security with AWS Nitro, Enhanced Network Adapter (ENA) and Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA), and in computing with AWS Graviton and F1 EC2 instances.

About AWS Utility Computing (UC): AWS Utility Computing provides product innovations that set AWS services apart. As a member of UC, you support development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including specialized security solutions for cloud services. This role may involve exposure to Amazon’s growing suite of generative AI services.

As an SDE II you will work with external and internal customers to identify the main obstacles and opportunities to accelerate adoption of the Neuron technology.

Key responsibilities

Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.

Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.

Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.

Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.

Participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input.

Basic qualifications

3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).

2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability and scaling.

Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Hands‑on technical experience working on the Generative AI space.

1+ years in machine learning or computational modeling environments emphasizing building and optimizing models for diverse hardware platforms.

Compensation: Base pay ranges from $129,300 per year in the lowest geographic market to $223,600 per year in the highest geographic market. Additional equity, sign‑on, and other compensation may be offered.
