Engineering Manager We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering teams. This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on growing and supporting a team of engineers to develop secure, scalable microservices and mobile/web solutions for our healthcare platform. The ideal candidate will bring deep engineering expertise, strong people management skills, and a passion for driving technical execution in a mission‑driven startup environment. This position reports to the VP of Engineering and offers significant opportunity to influence product strategy and engineering excellence.
Work Setting This is a full‑time hybrid position based in West Virginia, with onsite presence as per the schedule proposed by the manager. Candidates should expect regular in‑person collaboration, and occasional travel (up to 15%) may be required across West Virginia, California, and New York for customer site visits, team offsites, or relevant industry events.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of 5–8 software engineers across backend and mobile app development
Provide mentorship, technical direction, and career support for engineers at all levels
Define engineering roadmaps and architectural strategy in partnership with the VP of Engineering
Oversee development of platform microservices and Flutter‑based mobile applications
Manage engineering delivery timelines, release planning, and sprint execution
Ensure all solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with HIPAA and HITECH
Drive integration projects with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts)
Collaborate with product, clinical, and regulatory teams to deliver cross‑functional outcomes
Cultivate an inclusive, high‑performing team culture rooted in psychological safety and transparency
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
2+ years of engineering management experience leading remote or hybrid teams
5+ years of hands‑on software development experience with clear progression into technical leadership roles
Experience in the U.S. healthcare technology sector, including EHR system integrations and regulatory compliance
Expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud‑native technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
Familiarity with mobile development using Flutter and an understanding of secure software development practices
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and maintaining HIPAA‑compliant systems and solutions
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
Background in implementing audit logging and data encryption protocols
Fluency in agile delivery methods and cross‑functional stakeholder management
Ability to coach and scale high‑performing engineering teams
Strong emotional intelligence and systems thinking for team leadership and architecture
Experience working with connected health devices or Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) systems
Compensation Total compensation for this role is expected to fall within the range of
$130,000 to $180,000 annually , depending on experience, qualifications, and alignment with the responsibilities outlined. Additional equity and performance‑based incentives may be available.
