General Description The nursing faculty at WWCC transform the lives of nursing students to fulfill the increasingly complex role of entry-level professional nurses in the provision of safe, compassionate, culturally sensitive, evidence-based, ethically grounded, and client-centered care. The nursing instructor serves as a teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning to prepare well-qualified graduates to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.

The full-time, tenure-track Nursing Instructor teaches both nursing theory in the classroom and practicum (clinical or simulation) based on their interest and nursing/teaching experience.

Demonstrates professionalism and integrity. Promotes an inclusive learning environment, evidence-based nursing care, and a spirit of inquiry.

Quality Instruction:

Provides effective instruction using various teaching methods in skills labs, clinical settings, and classrooms. Develops and evaluates measurable student learning outcomes.

Student Advocate:

Advises and mentors students on success strategies, program requirements, career options, and graduation requirements, considering their individual backgrounds.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

Builds constructive relationships with colleagues, students, and community members from diverse backgrounds, supporting a team-teaching model.

Competencies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain relationships with diverse students, faculty, and community stakeholders.

Effective teaching strategies utilizing evidence-based techniques, technology, and curriculum evaluation.

Recognition of the value of cultural, ethnic, gender, and individual differences in learning and healthcare environments.

Qualifications Equivalent education and experience may be considered at the college's discretion.

Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution and a nursing education program accredited by a recognized body OR

Bachelor's degree in nursing plus a graduate degree in a health or education-related field, both from accredited institutions.

Three full-time years of clinical nursing experience.

Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Washington State.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications

Experience with best practices in teaching and adult learning principles.
