Apply to become a Captain on our Falcon 7X. Captains at BD are responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned and report directly to the Chief Pilot.
Job Responsibilities
Act as pilot in command (PIC) of scheduled flights.
Provide excellent customer service to passengers.
Follow schedules and directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
Ensure that preflight inspections are performed.
Study weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports, and departure points.
Prepare flight plans.
Ensure the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all safety and comfort provisions onboard.
Review and calculate aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts.
Manage the SIC (second in command) in all duties needed to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft.
Coordinate the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flight.
Communicate with crew and other team members, maintaining integrity and CRM in alignment with the BD Way.
Ensure aircraft operations comply with BD Aviation Flight Operations Manual and SOPs, including strict adherence to checklists by all crew members.
Participate in the Safety Management System by creating flight risk analyses for all flight segments and filing safety reports as needed.
Monitor crew performance, share knowledge with crewmembers, and evaluate crewmember potential for advancement.
Make decisions to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from the planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
Required Skills
Flight training received through an FAA‑approved school or training program.
Two (2) years of recent background as a pilot in Corporate Aviation.
FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with appropriate aircraft and type ratings.
FAA 1st class medical certificate.
FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
Position based out of Morristown, NJ within approximately 1.5‑hour driving distance of the base.
Preferred Skills
At least two (2) years of college education; an Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
5,000 hours of total flight experience including 3,000 hours serving as PIC, with 1,500 hours in turbine‑powered aircraft is preferred.
Flight experience in Falcon 7X or 8X preferred.
International flight experience preferred.
Must Be Able To Pass / Provide
BD initiated check ride.
Pre‑employment drug test.
Background check.
FBI fingerprinting.
Provide copy of all training certifications.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Ability to quickly adapt, learn new technology and concepts, and apply them as needed.
Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
Outstanding customer service skills.
