M4 Engineering
M4 Engineering is seeking a talented Structural Analysis Engineer to perform detailed structural analysis on aircraft primary and secondary structures and components. This role will have primary ownership of structural substantiation activities throughout the entire design lifecycle, from conceptual design through certification.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct material selection and structural concept trade studies during preliminary design phases
Perform detailed finite element analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations to substantiate structural integrity
Generate formal analysis reports and documentation packages in support of ground/flight testing and FAA/EASA certification
Define and support structural verification plans, including component, subsystem, and full-scale aircraft-level testing
Present analysis methods, results, and recommendations to internal teams, customers, and airworthiness authorities
Collaborate closely with stress, design, materials & processes, aerodynamics, and systems engineering teams to ensure requirements compliance
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
3–5 years of hands‑on experience in aerospace structural analysis
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident required (ITAR compliance)
Proficiency in finite element analysis using ANSYS Workbench/APDL and/or NX Nastran/Patran
Demonstrated experience with both metallic and composite airframe structures
Strong foundation in classical stress analysis (hand calculations) and fatigue/damage tolerance methods
Experience performing requirements verification and writing certification stress notes/reports
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical data clearly
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with aircraft landing gear systems and/or hydraulic actuators
Optimization experience (topology, sizing, shape optimization)
Programming/scripting skills in Python, MATLAB, Fortran, or C/C++
Previous leadership or technical mentoring experience
Familiarity with FAA/EASA certification processes (Part 23, Part 25)
