What you will be doing: The Brake Interface Components Design Release Engineer will be responsible for designing and validating brake tubes, brake hoses, and wheel speed sensors. The role includes all aspects of component design to ensure system and vehicle-level functional objectives are met. Responsibilities: Manage the release of components, bill of materials, CAD drawings, design verification plans, physical testing, supplier management, change notices, vehicle build support, issue resolution, and PPAP. Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, suppliers, Purchasing, Quality, and Assembly Plants. Manage product performance to meet functional, cost, and weight targets. Perform product release and change management processes. Oversee packaging in vehicle environment. Manage supplier and internal DVPRs and DFMEAs. Support AQP, PSO, product launch, and ongoing maintenance of carryover products. Lead design and release of designated components. Develop and refine routings for brake tubes, brake hoses, and wheel speed sensors, considering functional, safety, reliability, and performance requirements. Qualifications: Essential: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or ABET equivalent. 3+ years of engineering experience focused on brake tubes, brake hoses, wheel speed sensor programs. Experience in manufacturing vehicle components and vehicle assembly. Demonstrated aptitude for mechanical engineering through work experience or academic projects. Effective communication skills for interfacing with suppliers and internal teams. Preferred: Strong GD&T skills. Project management experience. Proficiency in DVPR, DFMEA disciplines. Formal training or experience in problem solving, quality, and reliability. Design for Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification. Action-oriented and customer-focused mindset.
