Employee Relations Manager
Founded in 1997, Think Together partners with schools to change the odds for kids by providing award-winning programs during and outside the school day. We’re one of California’s largest nonprofits working in school districts from San Diego to San Francisco. Job Summary: The Manager, Employee Relations (“ER”) will support the creation and implementation of company-wide strategies to enable decisions that are consistent with company policies, values & culture. This role provides business partners with ER expertise and services, including conducting complex investigations related to Company policies, determining investigation findings and recommendations, drafting various investigation-related documents, advising on a wide range of ER issues, and interpreting policies and practices. The Manager, ER will also assist with projects such as organizational change assessment, ER data and analytics, and ER training. The ideal candidate must work independently, demonstrate strong communication skills, handle sensitive employment situations, and interact effectively at all organizational levels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership and act as a primary contact on employee relations matters. Lead investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, accommodation, and retaliation, ensuring thorough and objective documentation. Engage with employees and leadership to facilitate business strategies, conduct assessments, investigations, and discuss opportunities for continuous improvement to foster a positive employee experience. Develop and implement integrated ER strategies and solutions. Promote understanding and compliance with company policies and employment laws through coaching, presentations, and training. Maintain accurate records of investigations and document findings promptly in the case management system. Produce clear, comprehensive written reports for internal and external audiences. Analyze ER data to identify themes, trends, and root causes, sharing insights with key partners to inform organizational strategies. Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Legal, and other teams to advance ER initiatives. Lead projects including training, research, and other contributions to support organizational goals. Serve as a role model and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, embodying the company’s culture and values. Act as a subject matter expert on employment laws, policies, and regulations, providing advice to leaders and colleagues. Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, psychology, sociology, industrial labor relations, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years in employee or labor relations management. Preferred certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CLRP, or Certified Employee Relations Professional; Juris Doctorate is a plus. Deep knowledge of employment laws, complex investigations, and workplace issues. Strategic thinker with experience translating goals into actionable initiatives. Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects independently and prioritize effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and professionalism. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, HRIS, and ethics reporting systems; experience with ADP is advantageous. Physical/Work Environment
Moderate office noise, with the ability to stand, walk, and sit as needed. Visual focus on computer screens. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds. Travel up to 20% may be required. Hybrid work model with 2-3 days in the office. Compensation
