Job Description Holland America Line has been exploring the world since 1873. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Technician, Condition Based Maintenance. You will be responsible for the deployment, installation, setup, commissioning, and ongoing support of Vibration Analysis monitoring systems aboard our vessels. This role primarily focuses on CBM systems but also involves implementing other complementary technologies. You will support the CBM Manager in achieving failure prevention, maintenance optimization, and cost savings across the fleet. The position involves overseeing installation, upgrades, and training of CBM systems, working closely with onboard operation and maintenance teams, with support from the CBM Programs Manager. Collaboration with all officer ranks and some petty officer ranks in the technical team from Chief Engineer to Third Engineer and Machinists across all ships in the Carnival fleet is essential. Here’s a summary of what Holland America Line seeks in its Senior Technician, Condition Based Maintenance. Is this you? Responsibilities Implement CBM solutions onboard ships, including supervision of contractors. Assist with shipboard CBM queries and resolutions. Calibrate and repair CBM systems and hardware timely. Manage installation of CBM equipment and training on vessels, remotely and onboard. Conduct training and promote the importance of CBM to onboard teams, upholding company culture and values. Improve asset maintenance strategies based on condition data reporting. Create vibration analysis reports using data from ship teams or other systems like Neptune. Perform remote analysis of vibration data. Assess reports from third-party Condition Monitoring partners for quality and validity. Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and suggest solutions using CBM technology, collaborating with shore-based teams. Contribute to RCM and FMEA analysis. Requirements Engineering training, accreditation, or relevant skills (technical college or vocational education). VA CAT II – Intermediate Vibration Analyst certification. At least 3 years’ experience maintaining rotating equipment and implementing CBM strategies, preferably in maritime or passenger cruise sectors. Minimum 2 years’ knowledge of predictive technologies such as Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, and Performance measurement. 2 years’ experience with CBM data collection and analytics software, e.g., Mimic, Emerson CSI2130, CSI2140, or equivalents. Proficiency in computer applications, internet technology, and project management tools. Experience building vibration databases, selecting frequency bands, and setting filters for specific machinery. Ability to troubleshoot complex machinery issues using engineering knowledge and advanced vibration analysis tools. Proactive in suggesting process improvements and solutions. Capable of multitasking and working under pressure, flexible with working hours, including travel. Excellent communication skills for technical discussions and training. Ability to train and communicate effectively with officers, petty officers, and shoreside staff. Willingness to travel over 50%, with shipboard travel likely. This position follows a schedule of three days in the office per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), with flexibility for remote work the rest of the week.
