We are seeking a Backend/Core Java Developer for a contract role with a Client based in New York City.
This hybrid position requires candidates to be within commuting distance to the NYC office.
The selected candidate will join the Prime Finance IT team to support a Client's platform initiative using a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as part of a strategic reengineering program.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Equity Finance Front Office applications.
Deliver end-to-end solutions including analysis, design, implementation, and deployment.
Collaborate with Equity Finance Front Office and Middle Office teams to align development with business requirements.
Provide ongoing support and enhancements for trading and user-facing systems.
Partner with Client's teams to ensure cohesive and coordinated delivery.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience. Strong proficiency in backend Java development. Experience with Web Sockets/UI Streaming, ideally using Tibco or similar internal messaging systems. Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Microservices Architecture; must be comfortable working with multiple microservices. Scripting experience using Python (non-OOP). Proficiency in writing queries and stored procedures in MS SQL or Sybase from a development perspective. Familiarity with agile development methodologies. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Prior experience in financial services or investment banking. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with React or other frontend frameworks (nice to have but not required). Familiarity with cloud-based environments (on-prem cloud experience preferred).
