Description The City of Worcester is seeking a Projects and Data Analyst to provide analytical, technical, and occasional project management support to the Department of Sustainability and Resilience (DSR). Under the direction of the Director of Sustainability Projects, the analyst will contribute to the implementation of the Green Worcester Plan, coordinating sustainability and resilience activities throughout the City.

Work as part of an interdisciplinary project team on topics related to building energy, waste management, environmental data, and climate resilience.
Gather and analyze energy and sustainability data managed by DSR for the City and its community.
Maintain accurate municipal energy production and consumption data in the MassEnergyInsight tool.
Lead energy and sustainability reporting, such as CDP, EIA, LBER, and Green Communities.
Maintain and analyze records of municipal renewable energy production and net‑metering credits; develop interdepartmental invoices.
Perform project‑specific calculations to estimate sustainability and resilience impacts and cost‑benefit analyses.
Use spatial digital tools (e.g., Crowdsource Maps, StoryMaps) to advance meaningful community engagement.
Assist with monitoring and managing electric vehicle charging station software.
Develop engaging presentation materials explaining technical and analytical information in accessible formats.
Analyze survey results and communicate findings clearly to support informed decision‑making.
Assist with maintaining technical content on the Green Worcester dashboard.
Staff approximately ten evening public meetings annually, managing notes and online participation.
Prepare memos, reports, and presentations as project deliverables.
Assist with grant applications, administration, and reporting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of sustainability and resilience principles, practices, and objectives.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency with ArcGIS; working knowledge of informational mapping platforms such as Crowdsource Maps.
Ability to analyze data from multiple sources and produce meaningful insights.
Ability to communicate complex analyses in concise, accessible written form.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse community.
Strong organizational, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks.
Willingness and ability to learn and think creatively.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Bachelor’s degree in Data Analysis, Economics, Environmental Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field.
Two (2) years of research and analytics experience (professional or academic) related to energy or sustainability metrics. Internship experience will be considered.
One (1) year of experience using ArcGIS software.
Preferred Qualifications Four (4) years of research and analytics experience related to energy or sustainability metrics (internships considered).
Two (2) years of experience using ArcGIS or related mapping platforms to develop engaging maps.
Salary Range $67,519 – $78,080 annually, full‑time, with an excellent benefits package.
