In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment such as Liebherr or Sennebogen material handlers and Volvo front-end loaders to load and unload containers and trailers, and move scrap metal and other materials around the recycling yard. This position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions. SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Working hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime and Saturdays as needed. Monitor equipment condition regularly to minimize downtime. Determine load weights and verify against equipment capacity to prevent overloads. Operate machinery safely and efficiently to move vehicles, decommission equipment, and load trucks or train cars. Assist in yard organization to meet production goals. Perform routine maintenance such as fueling, lubricating, and cleaning equipment. Conduct daily inspections and report any issues to supervisors. Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations and policies. Qualifications: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. At least 1 year of experience operating Volvo front-end loaders and/or Liebherr or Sennebogen material handlers in scrap metal, waste, or demolition industries (preferred). Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Willingness to learn new tasks as assigned.
