Our first store opened on January 2nd, 1980 in Anaheim, CA and has since grown to 40 stores across four counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and the Inland Empire. We offer customers a full‑service supermarket with a large meat department, bakery, tortilleria, and prepared foods, as well as a sizeable section of domestic and imported Latin American grocery goods to provide a Mexican homeland experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.
Empty all rubbish containers as agreed by store management.
Clean and sanitize bathrooms including all plumbing fixtures.
Replenish paper and soap supplies in all restrooms as required.
Clean, sweep, scrub, strip, wax, buff or vacuum floors in sales area and other areas as designated by management.
Clean employee break and lunch areas.
Sweep warehouse floors.
Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and submit purchase orders or requests to store management as required.
Be knowledgeable of the company’s HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturer’s label instructions for safe use of all chemical products.
Handle damaged and spoiled products and place items in designated area.
Control excessive use of utilities and water, observing sound conservation practices.
Perform the hourly Gleason walk throughout the store.
Observe security standards by staying alert and aware of customer actions; report abnormal behavior to key person or security.
Secure auxiliary doors and entrances when taking out trash containers to empty into outside refuse bins or when using exterior sites for cleaning equipment.
Notify store manager of personnel situations or policy violations affecting store performance or requiring disciplinary action.
Leadership
Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service or assistance.
Maintain equipment in good working order; immediately advise store manager of any maintenance or equipment problems.
Assist in training associates when requested or directed.
Maintain good communication with coworkers and supervisors throughout the organization.
Safety
Comply with safety policies and procedures.
Follow procedure in all duties, ensuring proper dilution mixtures or ratios when preparing cleaning solutions; comply with all chemical product label instructions and warnings.
Use safeguards such as warning signs and cones to alert customers and employees to potential hazards.
Sweep floors during store hours and respond promptly to emergencies or hazards such as spills or broken glass.
Perform any other work‑related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Conditions
Education/Experience: High school education preferred but not required.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: None required.
Skills Required
Perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth‑grade level for mixture ratios or dilution factors when preparing cleaning solutions.
Hear, speak, and understand spoken word to respond promptly to pages for assistance, verbal customer requests, and telephone communications.
Read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand English with sufficient proficiency to read instructions, policies, and posted job documents.
Be fully knowledgeable and familiar with proper procedures in all phases of store maintenance, including safety and HAZCOM policies.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
Regularly sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Require specific vision abilities, including close vision and ability to read detailed label instructions.
Lift up to 70 pounds at least once per shift, carrying bulk items such as dog food, cartons of milk, beverages, or trash containers.
Climb ladders to wash windows, change bulbs, and access elevated areas; sweep, mop, and lift trash containers to outside bins.
Respond quickly to fire or other emergencies, cleanup requests, security assistance, or customer accidents.
Tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical fumes from cleaning agents.
Handle chemical substances and solutions that could be hazardous if mishandled.
Perform occasional duties in frozen food and refrigerated storage areas with temperatures up to 20°F below zero.
Work frequently on wet and slippery surfaces.
