Overview

The bartender is responsible for the complete set‑up of the bar area and for mixing drinks for all guests and servers. The role ensures service and cleanliness of the bar area, maintaining quality service, guest satisfaction, and control over liquor inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Set up the bar according to hotel standards and serve guests promptly and efficiently.
  • Prepare beverages and cocktails according to the hotel's mixing and presentation standards.
  • Serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Break down bar after service, storing liquor, supplies and equipment according to hotel standards.
  • Follow all state liquor laws and hotel policies.
  • Serve liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests.
  • Respond to guests' problems, complaints, and accidents.
  • Know all fire exit locations and extinguisher locations and how to operate them.
  • Keep bar and service areas clean and tidy during service.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or experience in a hotel or a related field, preferred.
  • Flexible and able to work long hours when required.
  • Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 20 pounds of force frequently, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to stand during the entire shift.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Strong listening, understanding, and clarifying skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service‑oriented manner.
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards and scheduling requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Handle problems effectively, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary.
  • Understand and apply complex information and data to meet objectives.
  • Cross‑train in other hotel related areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Show initiative, anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
