Responsibilities

The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, equipment, and waste management.

Essential Functions

• Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs
• Assist in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request
• Clean housekeeping closet and maintain par levels
• Collect and transport all waste, including RMW, according to policy
• Compacts trash or places in containers
• Damp buffs and shampoo carpets with approved equipment
• Dry and wet mops floors of rooms and offices
• Dust mops and wet mops corridor, stairwells and other common areas
• Empties waste receptacles and removes trash
• Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when needed
• Observes and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures
• Performs patient discharge cleaning using 7‑step cleaning procedure
• Refills paper towels, toilet paper, soap and toilet seat dispensers
• Patient Ready Room: All patient rooms must be patient‑ready at all times. Tent card in every patient room. Toilet seat band on each toilet. Privacy curtains in every patient room

Qualifications

Required:

• Successful completion of general and department specific orientation

Preferred:

• Previous hospital housekeeping preferred

Scheduling Requirements

• Shift: 11:00 pm‑7:00 am
• Weekend and holiday requirements included
