VIA Metropolitan Transit Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Senior Data Analyst will leverage Business Intelligence and Data Analytic best practices to deliver relevant, timely, and insightful information to help monitor route performance and inform service planning and scheduling. Responsibilities include gathering, summarizing, and preparing data for geospatial and statistical analysis, data modeling, report creation and automation, end-user education and training, and developing reporting, analysis, and visualization of business data, metrics, and measures to align with and track against overall business strategies, goals, and objectives. This role also involves driving innovation and decision-making and is responsible for reports required for the National Transit Database (NTD). Essential Functions Develop, implement, and maintain methods and procedures to monitor and evaluate fixed route and other service performance. Oversee analytical work of Service Analyst and Service Planner/Scheduler/Analyst. Gather information/data, compile statistics, conduct analyses, and prepare management reports related to service operational issues. Develop detailed analysis from multiple data sources to facilitate informed decision-making, ensuring the department has necessary data for daily operations and strategic planning. Lead in the development of reporting, analysis, and visualization of business data to align with strategic goals. Collaborate with VIAs Technology and Innovation team to align data organization, structure, and integrity with company policies. Identify opportunities for forecasts, financial and statistical models, segmentation schemes, and data-driven analyses. Create dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reports; develop ad-hoc reports to support decision-making. Work with stakeholders to understand reporting needs to improve efficiency and add value. Design descriptive, diagnostic, and reporting solutions with effective visualizations and storytelling. Coordinate with internal and external teams to acquire and load data, producing data design guidelines and documentation. Lead data validation and quality assurance efforts. Develop operational, analytical, and strategic reporting solutions, including service data analysis and statistical reporting.
Education And Experience Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Urban Planning, Data Science, Statistics, or related field with at least 5 years of experience in statistical analysis or a similar role working with business intelligence and data analytics environments. Additional Requirements Experience conducting sessions with business users to identify data sources and support business requirements. Customer-focused approach, respecting procedures, policies, and legal requirements. Knowledge of programming and statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, or R. Experience with BI data visualization tools. Ability to interact effectively with users at all organizational levels. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret complex reports and instructions. Good attendance and safety awareness.
