ARCO/Murray is seeking a Director of Racking & Automation to lead our newly formed racking, material handling, and warehouse solutions team in Chicago.

A Day in the Life
Lead and coordinate all managerial and administrative aspects of industrial racking, material handling, and/or automation system projects from pre‑construction through closeout.
Execute projects within the first ~12 months at regional and national levels until a PM group is developed.
Develop new processes, refine existing ARCO processes or design deliverables to ensure effective estimates that drive accurate and profitable proposals.
Leverage ARCO's network and your own to identify new racking or material handling system projects and grow the business.
Work closely with clients and the design team to understand facility requirements, layout racking needs, and develop preliminary concept drawings and project budgets.
Participate in proposal meetings to review scope, discuss cost‑reduction ways, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts and fees.
Oversee selection and buyout process for all relevant trades, installers, and equipment vendors; expand vendor network nationally.
Collaborate with Project Superintendent to review subcontractor scopes, schedule, and site logistics plan.
Manage project schedule to achieve timely completion while maintaining internal commitments and holding customers accountable.
Track and manage project performance versus budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports.
Ensure the construction process is fun for clients, subcontractors, and vendors without sacrificing quality or safety.
Necessary Qualifications
BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
5–7 years of construction project management or engineering design experience specific to industrial racking and/or automation systems.
Prefer experience in Cold Storage, Manufacturing, Food Production, and/or Distribution facilities.
Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
