About the Security Team The security engineering team at ByteDance is mission‑driven to build security services, platforms, and technologies, while supporting cross‑functional teams to protect users, products, and infrastructure. In this team you will have first‑hand exposure to the company’s security strategy, particularly in building scalable and secure‑by‑design systems and solutions, and you will participate in the entire lifecycle of security products or services.
Responsibilities We count on our Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to empower users with high availability and stellar performance from a security perspective. As we expand our business in APAC, we seek experienced SREs to deliver insights for massive‑scale security systems in real time. You will address day‑to‑day technical problems and bring fresh ideas, investigate infrastructure, identify issues, and develop novel solutions. Your impact will be large and key to the company’s business.
Lead or drive an SRE team to design and implement the security SRE framework for the company’s infrastructure, building cutting‑edge deployment, upgrade, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery technologies.
Use cutting‑edge technologies to implement and improve automation and intelligence of the SRE infrastructure, evolving it into a platform that measures and monitors availability, scalability, latency, and overall system health of security products, and improves maintenance efficiency and sustainability.
Design and develop the SRE infrastructure and maintenance tools for the full lifecycle of security system development, supporting rapid iteration and reliability of the company’s security services.
Coordinate support across cross‑functional teams and external customers for security products and services.
Build, scale, manage, and coach the SRE team while driving technical decisions as a leader.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, with a minimum of 5+ years experience developing and maintaining large‑scale distributed SRE platforms and tooling with automation.
Solid programming skills in at least one language (Go, Java, Python, Shell) and familiarity with web frameworks (Gin, Django, Spring).
Hands‑on skills in debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing sophisticated distributed systems.
Deep understanding of Linux, Windows, TCP/IP, HTTP, networking, storage, and computer architecture.
Experience with Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, high‑availability cluster construction, monitoring, backup, fault handling, and performance optimization.
Experience with cloud‑native frameworks, Kubernetes, and SRE tools such as Ansible, ELK, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Preferred Qualifications
Passionate about self‑studying cutting‑edge technologies and staying relevant.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to take ownership.

Job Information Base salary range: $187,040 - $359,720 per year. Compensation may vary based on qualifications and experience. This role may qualify for discretionary bonuses, incentives, or restricted stock units. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid parental leave, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, life insurance, well‑being benefits, 10 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 17 days of paid personal time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals).
