Title: Heavy Diesel Transportation Mechanic

Reports to: Assistant Fleet Manager

Location: Delray Beach, FL

Type: Full-Time | Onsite | Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY The duties and responsibilities of the Heavy-Duty Truck Technician include a variety of repairs to the company’s fleet of commercial trucks and trailers. This position reports directly to the Assistant Fleet Manager.

Requirements JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on trucks and trailers

Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipment

Adhere to manufacturer’s warranty policies and procedures

Consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving problems

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment

Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake adjustments, tire repairs, and fluid checks

Conduct detailed inspections of engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and braking systems

Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and identify necessary repairs

Perform welding, fabrication, and other mechanical tasks as required

Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and maintenance schedules

Adhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies

Respond to emergency roadside service calls when needed

Stay current with new technology, tools, and repair techniques in the diesel and heavy equipment industry.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training preferred.

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic (heavy-duty preferred).

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

CDL license preferred (or ability to obtain).

ASE Certification(s) or manufacturer-specific training a plus.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.

Physical ability to lift to 75 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
