we are looking for an experienced

Surgical Coordinator

to join our growing team at both our locations in

Delray Beach

and

Lake Worth !

Prior Ophthalmology experience is required, previous Ophthalmology Tech experience preferred. Must be hardworking, efficient with attention to details, who can see the work and complete all tasks efficiently. Experience in surgical scheduling, coordinating surgeries, and cataract testing (ECC, IOL Master, A-Scan, Corneal Topography etc.) is key.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TOO: Surgery Coordinator Duties:

Schedules surgeries in the office or over the phone

Counsels the patient on all outpatient surgical instructions

Obtains signature from patient on Informed Consents and Post-Operative Release forms

Verifies insurance benefits on surgery patients and determines if pre-certification is required by their insurance company

Sets up the pre-operative clearance appointments with referring doctors' offices or surgeons

Schedules surgeries with the facility

Prepares surgery chart for each surgeon, including pre-certifying surgery; obtaining the pre-op report from the referring doctor; typing the discharge letter and sending to referring doctors; reviewing with the patient the surgical instructions, appointment calendar and eye drops schedule for patient's pre, and post-operative care.

Enters surgery appointments and post op appointments in the scheduling system

Communicate and provide billing team all necessary documentation for billing of procedures

Knowledgeable about intraocular lenses including Panoptix, Vivity, Multifocal, Toric and Light Adjustable Lens, Femtosecond Laser, cataract surgery, pterygium, blepharoplasties, glaucoma procedures such as Xen, istent, goniotomy, etc.

Ophthalmic Technician, knowledge is highly preferred in:

Refractions

Visual Fields OCT Topography

Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/ELIGIBILITY:

H.S. Diploma.

College degree preferred.

COA/COT certification or Surgical Training.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY

Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills; oral, written and presentation. Above average organizational skills. Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and courteous manner. Serves as a role model to other staff members. Actively participates in the development of a healthy work environment.

Critical Thinking: Demonstrates accountability, skill, and knowledge to practice within scope of position responsibilities. Demonstrates an above average ability to organize, prioritize, analyze, anticipate, interpret, evaluate and problem solve to provide a safe, effective, and functional environment. Ability to direct the activities of the staff and manage the personnel.

Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in ambulatory surgery environment, operating room preferred, including direct patient care. Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.
