Northwest Texas SBDC Region Position Description Performs professional counseling and training to the area businesses in a 13-county area of the Texas Panhandle. Assist existing businesses with expansion into other regional and international markets.

Major/Essential Functions

Assess client needs.

Provide counseling that includes financial, regulatory, and operational guidance and technical assistance on the various aspects of starting and expanding a successful small business including, but not limited to:

analyzing the specific business and industry data in finance, marketing, management, and operations

guiding the development of business plans and financial packages

calculating and interpreting historical and projected financial ratios

preparing pro forma cash flow and financial statements

conducting quality‑based assessments, troubleshooting to identify problems and areas for improvement

guiding business start‑ups to include employment requirements

providing information on federal, state, and local regulations and programs and guiding pre‑venture, start‑up, or advanced‑stage existing businesses.

Plan and lead training on subjects relevant to small business start‑ups and growth

Recruit government, private, and public entities, businesses, and businesspersons to provide voluntary training

Assist in the transfer of university‑based knowledge to the small business community

Ensure timely and accurate counseling data input into the Neoserra client information management system

Other duties as assigned by the Center Director

Promote the program and advocate for small businesses through presentations to communities and entities

Develop relationships with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, SBA, banks, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, trade groups, educational institutions, legislators, and hosts

Assist in developing appropriate advertising, promotion, and marketing materials

Assist in business disaster recovery

Develop a Sustainable & Resilient Rural Economy Academy

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business or a related field plus two years experience in business, management, marketing or a related field. Additional related experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field with a minimum of 3 years work experience in business or a related field

Accounting background or lending experience

Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook Calendar & Zoom)

Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, have good interpersonal skills, display initiative, and demonstrate professionalism

Minimum Hire Rate 20.76
