Salary Range The full pay range for this role is $XX to $XX annually. The target range for this position is $XX to $XX annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

Scope of Job The Senior Manager - Data Product Management leads the execution of difficult and strategic data use cases while supporting organization-wide data product management excellence. This role involves independent management of complex, high-impact data use cases and data products while building and mentoring data product managers and contributing to enterprise data product standards. This position drives data product management best practices and helps scale capabilities across the organization. The role requires the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership across multiple departments to shape product vision and strategy.

Responsibilities

Data Product Management

Develops and maintains a strategic roadmap for enterprise data products aligned with business objectives

Drives the data product vision and strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.

Presents data product portfolio strategy, business cases, and ROI to executive leadership

Establishes data product management frameworks and methodologies for organizational adoption

Leads execution of difficult and strategic data use cases and data products

Manages complex, enterprise-wide data products that span multiple business units

Oversees coordination with technical teams for high-complexity implementations requiring advanced solution design

Leads optimization of data use case performance and drives measurable business impacts across the portfolio

Research and Analysis

Leads business requirements gathering for enterprise-level data use cases

Conducts strategic customer research and stakeholder analysis across multiple business functions

Performs complex business analysis and creates comprehensive business process mapping for enterprise initiatives

Leads data modeling efforts in collaboration with technical teams for strategic use cases

Provides strategic insights and recommendations to leadership based on comprehensive research and analysis

People Leadership

Builds and scales the data product management team from the ground up

Recruits, hires, onboards, develops, evaluates and retains data product management talent

Provides coaching, mentorship, and guidance to Data Product Managers and Associates

Fosters a culture of data-driven decision making and customer-centricity and within the team

Data Governance

Supports implementation of governance by design, security by design, and privacy by design principles across complex data use cases

Partners with data stewards across all business units to ensure comprehensive dataset governance

Drives best practices for the development and support adoption of enterprise-wide governance

Collaborates with Senior Manager of Data Governance on governance strategy implementation

Cross-functional Collaboration

Leads complex cross-functional initiatives requiring coordination across multiple departments and external partners

Serves as a bridge between technical teams and business leadership for strategic data use cases

Contributes insights and expertise on data and utilization for organizational planning and strategy sessions

Drives resolution of complex cross-functional challenges and organizational barriers

Leads knowledge sharing and best practice development across the data product management organization

Champions data product management value and education across the enterprise

Other duties as assigned

Supervision of Others Direct supervision of a team of 5 or more Data Product Managers (Associate to Senior)

Working Conditions 95% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 5% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.

Fiscal Responsibilities Contributes to the budget for Data and Governance teams.

Qualifications Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Management or other related field; Master’s preferred

7+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years specifically in data product management

Experience leading complex data initiatives and cross-functional transformation efforts

Proven track record implementing data product management best practices in enterprise organizations

Experience in energy, utilities, or related infrastructure industries preferred

Technical Skills

Advanced proficiency in SQL and data analysis for strategic decision-making

Experience with data visualization platforms for strategic insights and executive reporting

Strong understanding of modern data platforms and enterprise data architecture

Experience with data governance tools and frameworks for enterprise compliance

Knowledge of privacy and security frameworks in data product development

Familiarity with enterprise data and business requirements across industries preferred

Knowledge/Abilities

Experience scaling teams and transitioning from individual contributor to management roles

Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills

Ability to influence and drive change in maturing organizations, experience with change management and organizational transformation

Proven track record understanding customer pain points and translating them into data product solutions

Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional team leadership

Experience with user-centered design approach and customer feedback integration skills

Demonstrated ability to present business cases with clear ROI justification to senior leadership
