Buyer Processor (Torching Experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Processor with torching / welding experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating torching equipment and ensuring efficient processing within our manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting.
Duties
Operate torches and cutters to size and separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals according to production and safety specifications.
Inspect and identify metal types and grades before torching to ensure proper sorting, maximize recovery value, and avoid contamination.
Perform pre-use inspections, maintain torching equipment, hoses, and regulators, and follow all fire prevention, PPE, and environmental safety protocols.
Assist with loading/unloading, staging processed materials, and communicating with scale and crane operators to maintain steady yard flow.
Operate loaders, excavators, forklifts, and front loader trucks to facilitate material handling and processing.
Perform cleaning duties to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Engage in heavy lifting tasks as necessary, ensuring adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Torching / welding experience REQUIRED
Bilingual speaking a plus (Spanish and English).
Experience working in an outdoor warehouse or similar environment.
Proven experience as a Scrap Metal Buyer or in a similar role, preferably in the recycling or metal industry.
In-depth knowledge of different types of metals, their grades, and market pricing.
Strong communication skills to engage effectively with sellers and maintain positive relationships.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety protocols related to scrap metal recycling.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and data management.
Physical ability to handle and inspect heavy scrap metal materials.
Willing and eager to learn. A quick learner and a desire to grow.
Experience
Previous experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, and roll-off trucks is preferred.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and sanitation practices is advantageous.
Proven ability to perform physical tasks that require strength and stamina.
