Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but you must effectively manage time and meet deadlines. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. Independent contractors conduct inspections to verify property occupancy and report general conditions using a mobile application.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Taken 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Fill out a short form in the app.
Drive long periods with multiple stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume. You may earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you could complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties pay higher rates; higher‑volume counties pay lower rates. No set minimum; the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
