Duties and Responsibilities
Motor Control Architecture & Algorithms
Design, implement, and optimize
FOC / torque/velocity/position
control loops for rotary and linear actuators
Develop high‑bandwidth real‑time control loops and state estimation algorithms
Build dynamic models of actuator systems and conduct system identification
Embedded Control Implementation
Integrate motor control algorithms into STM32 / TI / Renesas MCUs together with firmware engineers
Tune real‑time control performance (sampling rate, ISR scheduling, filtering strategies)
Implement advanced features such as anti‑cogging, impedance‑control primitives, low‑noise modes, and vibration suppression
Actuator System Integration
Define electrical, sensing, and performance requirements for joint modules
Collaborate with hardware engineers on motor selection, inverter design, and sensing architecture
Debug motor behavior across complex electromechanical systems
Develop internal motor‑testing platforms, tuning tools, and analysis pipelines
Analyze data logs and waveforms to diagnose performance issues
Qualifications
M.S. or Ph.D. in EE, ME, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field
3+ years of direct hands‑on experience in motor‑control development (FOC/servo systems)
Strong understanding of BLDC/PMSM control fundamentals
Hands‑on experience implementing control algorithms on embedded MCUs
Strong control‑theory foundation (feedback design, filtering, system dynamics)
Experience with encoders, current sensing, torque estimation
Skilled with lab tools (oscilloscope, current probe, logic analyzer)
Ability to debug nonlinearities, instability, noise, and thermal issues
Strong Model‑Based Design (MBD) experience preferred
Advanced BLDC/FOC motor control experience preferred
Experience with robot joint actuators (rotary/linear) preferred
Prior experience in startup or high‑growth technology environments preferred
Highly collaborative mindset with strong communication skills; proactive and able to estimate project scope effectively
Must be able to work onsite and willing to travel internationally up to 10% annually
