Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse caseload of workers’ compensation matters, including state claims, Defense Base Act (DBA) cases, and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) claims.
Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in administrative hearings, mediations, and trials.
Conduct depositions of claimants, medical experts, and fact witnesses.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
Analyze medical records and employment documentation to assess claims and develop defense strategies.
Provide strategic legal counsel on compliance with applicable workers’ compensation laws and federal regulations.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.
Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments affecting workers’ compensation and insurance defense across relevant jurisdiction
Requirements Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing.
5–10 years of experience in workers’ compensation and insurance defense litigation, including DBA and/or Longshore cases.
Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
