Job Summary

We are looking for a Director of Strategy & Business Operations who will develop high‑impact business recommendations, drive growth and serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders across Rakuten International. The role reports to the VP of Strategy & Business Operations and collaborates closely with product, marketing, sales and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead projects that shape Rakuten International's market, product, integration, and growth strategy.

Develop and execute long‑term business strategies aligned with company goals.

Conduct competitive and market analyses to support business decisions.

Coach and develop team members, fostering future leaders.

Lead cross‑functional strategic initiatives and special projects.

Provide thought leadership and ad‑hoc strategic advice to leaders at all levels, including C‑level executives.

Partner with executive leadership to identify growth opportunities, evaluate market trends and drive strategic priorities.

Evaluate potential partnerships, M&A opportunities and investments, and lead business case development.

Qualifications

Proven track record of leading cross‑functional strategic initiatives and driving measurable business impact.

Strong analytical skills with ability to structure complex problems and develop actionable insights.

Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder‑influencing skills.

Experience building trusted advisor relationships with C‑level executives.

Experience running large strategy projects to desirable outcomes, preferably in the technology industry.

Growth mindset and coaching experience.

Independent thinker, collaborative team player.

Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple long‑term projects.

Minimum Requirements

8+ years overall work experience, 4+ years in a top‑tier strategy consulting firm (preferred) and an additional 4+ years in a technology company's strategy function.

MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred.
