Overview The Engineering & Design Lead coordinates the activities of the engineering department at Top Metal Solutions' U.S. operation. This role ensures proper technical execution, metric compliance, and accurate work‑order releases while supporting project profitability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the design and work‑order release team, assigning priorities and workload.
Review drawings, DXFs, geometric tolerances, and specifications under GD&T, AWS D1.1/D1.3, and OSHA.
Prepare quotes and cost sheets ensuring margin protection and budget compliance.
Participate in technical meetings with clients, follow up on projects, and support monthly closing activities.
Control performance KPIs including accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement indicators.
Support team development through evaluations and technical feedback.
Identify cost‑saving opportunities in materials, processes, and production times.
Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and technical documentation requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Design Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in metal design or manufacturing.
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, GD&T, AWS, and OSHA.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Fluent in English and Spanish.
