Security Engineer, Distributed Cloud Air-Gapped Compliance
Join the team that builds the safest operating environment for Google’s users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you’ll work with network equipment, monitor systems for attacks, and partner with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws.
About The Job In this role you will ensure Google Distributed Cloud Air‑Gapped meets compliance requirements for public sector, defense industry, critical national infrastructure, and financial sector customers by establishing governance frameworks aligned with NIST SP 800‑53‑FedRAMP and other standards. You’ll leverage integrated cloud services, machine learning technologies, and Kubernetes API‑based ecosystems, while applying specialized knowledge of GDC air‑gapped security protocols, architecture, compliance controls, and certification audits across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
Review and provide inputs on requirements from relevant regulatory frameworks and technical standards to determine their applicability to GDC‑Air‑Gapped Compliance.
Conduct implementation reviews and report findings.
Conduct risk assessments, identify opportunities for compliance process improvements, and lead engineering projects from implementation through completion—monitoring solutions, audit tooling, reporting, and evidence collection.
Oversee engineering projects from a technical compliance perspective and collaborate with engineering teams to improve security and compliance, including design reviews and advising on compliant and secure implementation options.
Participate in compliance meetings between GDC Compliance and GDC engineering teams to contribute subject‑matter expertise and support decision making.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with security assessments or design reviews or threat modeling.
2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
2 years of coding experience in one or more general‑purpose languages.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with compliance programs and understanding of federal, ISO, and commercial compliance frameworks.
Compensation The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $141,000 – $202,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job‑related skills, experience, and education.
