Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Sr. Innovation Engineer to lead the application of the Amazon Robotics (AR) System and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) automation into our European Delivery Station Network.

The successful candidate will be a member of the European Amazon Logistics Central Engineering team and will be responsible for defining, testing, validating, and implementing various Robotics and Automation systems in the Delivery Stations network in the EU region.

This role requires experienced and entrepreneurial-minded Engineers with robotics, engineering, planning, and analytical skills. This individual will own robotics and automation implementation projects end-to-end and will partner with Process Engineering teams, Operations leaders, Facilities, and Engineering teams to operate advanced robotics technology across Amazon's last mile network.

Key job responsibilities

Drive customer requirements for AR system implementation

Identify automation opportunities based on labor, cost, safety, and performance metrics

Lead AR and MHE automation pilots, measuring success against productivity, quality, and safety targets

Develop business cases and implementation strategies

Support commissioning and maintenance of new installations

Technical Collaboration

Create technical documentation including flow diagrams and equipment layouts

Partner with simulation teams to validate automation concepts

Work with design and controls teams on MHE integration

Participate in cross-functional teams developing future technologies (robotics, IoT)

Project Leadership

Define pilot criteria and success metrics

Evaluate and select critical sites for automation deployment

Document lessons learned for future design iterations

Support field teams with service and maintenance implementation

A day in the life As an Innovation Engineer for AMZL, you'll develop and implement state-of-the-art automation and robotics technologies. Working between field operations and vendor partnerships, you'll identify operational challenges faced by associates and transform them into technological solutions. Based in our Innovation Center, you'll build and validate prototypes through rapid design iterations, using simulation and data analysis to demonstrate real-world benefits. Your role combines hands-on technical development with strategic business planning, requiring you to build compelling business cases for new technology pilots. You'll need to understand deeply how technology impacts both AMZL processes and associate workflows, bringing an entrepreneurial mindset to improve operational efficiency and worker experience.

Basic Qualifications

4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Experience with prototyping and implementation

BS in Mechanical Engineering

SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design and complex assemblies

Hands-on experience creating proof-of-concept models and prototypes

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application to product design

Organizational skills and teamwork ability

Experience communicating concepts and technical documentation

Experience in a fast-paced, agile environment

Proficiency in full lifecycle tasks and meeting milestones

Ability to evaluate design, performance, and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys FEA tools

Experience designing complex mechanical products at volume

Interdisciplinary team collaboration from concept to production

Project management experience for technical projects

Proficiency with PLM software and ECO processes

MS in Mechanical Engineering

Experience with SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys FEA tools
