We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer/Project Manager to lead plans, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and transportation projects, and to mentor technical staff.
Responsibilities
Manages, develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge/transportation projects.
Prepares proposals and/or contracts; participates in project decisions regarding technical approach, costs, and scheduling.
Responsible for client relationships, visibility, and business development.
Directs and mentors team members in developing design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.
Performs project and task management.
Reviews plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
Skills and Attributes
Extensive knowledge of structural engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Team oriented with strong independent work capability.
In-depth knowledge of MassDOT Bridge design standards.
Robust technical and critical thinking skills.
Detail‑oriented and quality‑focused.
Strong project management skills.
Motivation to lead and mentor others.
Knowledge of structural engineering software (AASHTOWare, LARSA 4D, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, Mathcad).
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation v8 is a strong plus.
Qualifications
11‑15 years of experience.
B.S. in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred); 1‑2 years experience can substitute for a master’s degree.
PE license required.
Experience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents, and developing contract plans in accordance with AASHTO & MassDOT or other DOT standards.
Independent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete) and seismic analysis.
Salary Range
(Boston/Watertown, MA): $140,000‑185,000; (Worcester, MA): $130,000‑180,000. Final compensation based on qualifications, education, and experience.
