Summary/Objective
The Senior Estimator develops project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ($2M-$40M), interprets contract requirements, and mentors junior team members. Experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction. Essential Functions
Interpret bid documents and construction plans. Conduct quantity takeoffs from project plans. Define project scope and required disciplines. Identify subcontractor roles and DBE participation to meet project goals. Identify constructability issues and value engineering opportunities. Coordinate pre-bid activities and owner inquiries. Prepare and review project estimates and schedules ($1M-$40M). Mentor junior estimators. Create and deliver project bid packages. Oversee junior estimators. Required Education and Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (preferred). 5-10+ years of civil construction estimating experience. Familiarity with Department of Transportation specifications. Experience using HeavyBid or similar estimating software. Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction. Prior work with NCDOT.
