Virtualization Administrator II
NetImpact Strategies is seeking a skilled Virtualization Administrator II to manage and maintain our virtualized IT infrastructure, ensuring its stability, performance, and security. This role involves administering both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments, resolving virtualization-related issues, and supporting IT initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the agency's virtualized IT infrastructure to ensure stability, performance, and security across on-premises and cloud environments.
Administer and support on-prem hardware (servers, storage), hypervisor environments (e.g., VMware, vSphere), and cloud service provider (CSP) infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
Design, build, implement, and troubleshoot virtualized information systems hosted on VMware, AWS, and Azure.
Provide technical support for existing and emerging virtualization technologies, assisting in planning and executing IT initiatives and projects.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs), virtual infrastructure, and physical infrastructure, including rack mounting and hardware setup.
Monitor performance of virtual environments, optimizing resource allocation to ensure efficient operation.
Diagnose and resolve virtualization-related issues, including VM performance, connectivity, and security challenges.
Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure availability and data integrity of virtual environments.
Ensure security compliance by applying patches, updates, and mandatory security configurations to virtual systems.
Maintain detailed documentation of virtualization configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to support virtualization needs and integrate virtual solutions with other systems.
Contribute to infrastructure automation and integrate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) into CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency and scalability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in virtualization administration, with a focus on VMware, Hyper‑V, or similar technologies.
Demonstrated experience in managing and troubleshooting VMware vSphere environments.
Experience supporting virtualization infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
Proficiency in automating IT administration and server provisioning using tools such as Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Automation, Azure CLI, PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI, Terraform or similar IaC tools.
Preferred Qualifications
VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
Experience with converged, hyperconverged, or composable compute hardware infrastructure in an enterprise datacenter environment.
Hands‑on experience with enterprise‑grade backup and recovery systems.
Experience administering cloud infrastructure.
Familiarity with managing and maintaining Fibre Channel Storage and/or Network‑Attached Storage systems.
Experience in physical datacenter management.
Knowledge of network virtualization technologies.
