Position Overview The Blake School seeks to hire an exceptional leader in mathematics education as the PK-12 Mathematics Department Chair. The ideal candidate will be a master teacher with multi-divisional teaching experience, administrative acumen, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and expertise in sharing best practices in mathematics instruction. The Math Department Chair works closely with Division Directors and reports to the Associate Head of School. The Math Department Chair will teach two classes in either the Middle or Upper School.

Leadership Opportunities and Responsibilities The following leadership opportunities and responsibilities will inspire the next PK-12 Math Department Chair:

Foster best practices in math education by developing and coaching grade 6-12 mathematics faculty and supporting PK-5 mathematics instruction

Drive the evaluation, identification and implementation of a research-based, PK-5 mathematics curriculum that provides an exceptional foundation for the grades 6-12 math program

Assist in hiring math faculty and support professional learning opportunities in math education

Communicate with families and students regarding the math program, course sequencing and course placement

Exemplify departmental leadership in representing Blake and the math program at admission events, responding to prospective parent inquiries and coordinating the course placement process for new students

Advance the school’s mission and values by collaborating with the Associate Head of School and the Division Directors on institutional and divisional goals.

Qualifications

8+ years of classroom experience

Master’s in mathematics or related field

Salary Range Salary Range:

$110,000 - 120,000 per year

This salary range includes the expected annual salary for this position. In making a salary determination, we consider professional experience, applicable qualifications and other job‑related factors. Based on these factors, a candidate's salary offer could exceed this range.
