Job Title: Intake Specialist
Who We Are: Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) is a well-established leader in mental health and substance abuse services, operating six Article 31 licensed clinics across Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan. Our team of over 85 licensed clinicians delivers personalized and comprehensive care, including individual, group, and family counseling, psychosocial and psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and psychopharmacology services—all designed to support the holistic well-being of a diverse client population. Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Intake Specialist to manage the intake process for new patients, ensuring a seamless and efficient transition into our clinical services. The ideal candidate will have experience in mental health settings, strong communication skills, and proficiency with relevant software tools. Key Responsibilities: Receive and verify insurance eligibility for new patients and assign them to appropriate clinicians at convenient clinic locations Ensure all necessary psychosocial and psychiatric information, including patient emails and emergency contacts, is collected before intake assessments Prioritize assignment of new cases to therapists building caseloads, using clinical judgment and experience Train therapists to maintain an up-to-date schedule of intake openings in the clinic scheduling system Maintain logs tracking patient assignments, intake status, and admission dates Communicate regularly with CCM’s Billing Director, billing and front desk staff, Clinic Directors, and the Director of Clinical Services regarding intake activities Notify referral agencies of patient status following intake appointments Manage schedule inventory and daily schedule distribution to support billing and rescheduling processes Maintain organized and current filing of office records for at least two years Assist with additional duties as assigned by Billing Director, Clinic Directors, and Director of Clinical Services Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or Social Services, or a Master’s degree in Social Work (LMSW preferred) At least one year of experience in a mental health clinic as a therapist or intern Proficient with EPACES, Microsoft Word, data entry, and strong overall computer skills.
