This hands‑on leadership role requires 60% individual contribution and 40% team leadership, reporting directly to the CTO.

About Bricklayer AI Inc. Bricklayer AI is the first multi-agent LLM‑based AI solution that brings autonomous AI specialists and human experts into a single collaborative and effective security team. Our automated AI Security Analyst, Threat Intelligence Analyst, and Incident Responder autonomously handle complex incidents, with minimal human oversight. They learn continuously, collaborate seamlessly, and enable human teams to build a stronger defense.

Description Our Platform Engineering Leader will lead the strategic vision and execution of Bricklayer AI’s cloud‑native platform infrastructure, ensuring our autonomous SOC platform scales efficiently while maintaining enterprise‑grade security and compliance standards. This hands‑on leadership role requires 60% individual contribution and 40% team leadership, reporting directly to the CTO. The ideal candidate will be deeply involved in architectural decisions and implementation while scaling the platform engineering team as we grow. You’ll write code, review pull requests, and make critical technical decisions while building and mentoring a world‑class platform engineering organization.

Location : This position is based in Atlanta, GA and requires full‑time in‑office work at our Atlanta R&D Center

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Define and execute the platform engineering strategy, roadmap, and vision across AWS and Azure multi‑cloud environments

Hands‑on Team Scaling:

Start by directly contributing to infrastructure development while simultaneously building and mentoring a platform engineering team as the company grows

Infrastructure Architecture:

Design and oversee implementation of scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient cloud infrastructure supporting AI workloads and multi‑tenant SaaS architecture

Developer Experience:

Establish and maintain internal developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and self‑service capabilities that accelerate engineering velocity

Security & Compliance:

Lead implementation and maintenance of SOC2 Type II controls, security frameworks, and compliance automation across the platform

Cost Optimization:

Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives and establish FinOps practices to maximize ROI on infrastructure investments

Observability & Reliability:

Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and SRE practices to ensure uptime and optimal performance

AI/ML Infrastructure:

Architect and maintain specialized infrastructure for LLM deployment, vector databases, and high‑throughput AI agent orchestration

Cross‑functional Collaboration:

Partner with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to align platform capabilities with business objectives

Technology Evolution:

Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption of cutting‑edge platform engineering tools and practices

Qualifications Required

8+ years of platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering experience with 3+ years in hands‑on leadership roles managing growing teams

Experience scaling engineering teams from startup phase to mature organizations

Proven ability to balance individual contribution (60%+) with team leadership and mentoring responsibilities

Expert‑level knowledge of AWS services with deep experience in Azure cloud services

Proven track record personally implementing and scaling infrastructure while building engineering teams

Advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi) with hands‑on implementation experience

Strong experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and GitOps methodologies

Deep understanding of security frameworks, compliance requirements (SOC2, ISO 27001), and vulnerability management

Experience architecting multi‑tenant SaaS platforms with enterprise‑grade security and performance

Strong background in observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, New Relic)

Proven experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices

Excellent communication skills with ability to present to executive leadership and technical teams

Track record of scaling infrastructure for high‑growth SaaS companies

Preferred

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, including GPU workloads, vector databases, and LLM serving platforms

Security certifications (AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, CISM)

Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)

Contributions to open‑source infrastructure projects

Background in cybersecurity industry and understanding of SOC operations

Experience with chaos engineering and advanced reliability practices
