Position Summary
In this role you will perform performs cardiac ultrasound examinations on patients encompassing normal cardiac anatomy to complex congenital heart disease. You will conduct examinations independently during all phases of care: diagnostic, pre‑operative, under anesthesia, post‑operative with complex surgical repairs.
New hires may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $15,000.00.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise provision of echocardiography examinations within non‑invasive lab. Monitor performance and provides assistance to ensure examinations are performed according to established protocols.
Plan case methodology and conduct comprehensive examinations in laboratory or with portable equipment at other locations as needed.
Establish supportive relationship with patients and families. Explain examination procedures to patients/parents and notifies them of scheduling problems or changes
Maintain and evaluate lab equipment. Monitor and maintain inventory of standard supplies, initiating reorder of items according to established par levels. Prepare and maintain required logs and records.
Provide instruction on performing echocardiography procedures and interpretation of results for sonographers, trainees and fellows.
Assist in clinical research studies. Explain protocols to staff and oversees collection of required clinical data.
Minimum Qualifications Education
Completion of high school or equivalent education. Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field (i.e., healthcare, nursing, biology, etc.) preferred
Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program in pediatric echocardiography.
Pediatric echocardiography specialty preferred.
Experience
2 years’ clinical experience in pediatric echocardiography required; 5 years preferred
Licensure/ Certifications
Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS PE)
A current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) in accordance with American Heart Association standards is required.
