Position Overview The Dallas Bulls are seeking a highly qualified and experienced
Team Doctor
to serve as the lead medical authority for the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of injuries and medical conditions affecting athletes, while working collaboratively with the athletic training, strength & conditioning, and coaching staffs. The Team Doctor plays a critical role in safeguarding player health, supporting performance, and guiding return-to-play decisions.
Key Responsibilities Medical Oversight & Player Health
Serve as the primary physician for all players, overseeing care for injuries, illnesses, and overall physical health.
Conduct physical exams, pre-participation evaluations, and injury assessments.
Provide medical coverage during home games and be available for consultations as needed during away games and travel.
Injury Diagnosis & Treatment
Diagnose acute and chronic injuries or conditions and establish evidence-based treatment plans.
Oversee in-house medical procedures or refer to appropriate specialists as necessary.
Collaborate with athletic trainers and physical therapists on rehabilitation protocols and timelines.
Return-to-Play & Clearance
Lead decision-making process for return-to-play clearance, ensuring compliance with league protocols and best practices.
Evaluate readiness based on functional testing, clinical exams, and interdisciplinary input.
Maintain close communication with coaching staff, front office, and medical team to keep all stakeholders informed of player health status.
Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews and performance meetings.
Ensure medical decisions prioritize player safety and long-term health.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate, confidential medical records for all players.
Ensure compliance with all league, state, and federal medical regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Stay current on league-specific concussion protocols, anti-doping policies, and health initiatives.
Qualifications Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) with an active medical license in the state of Texas.
Board certified in Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, or related specialty.
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in sports medicine, preferably at the collegiate or professional level.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and concussion management protocols.
Demonstrated experience working with athletic trainers, physical therapists, and high-performance staff.
Preferred Attributes Familiarity with league-specific medical protocols and requirements.
Excellent communication, judgment, and leadership skills under pressure.
