Job role: The role will see commitment and skill in the application of herbicides, pesticides and crop spraying and ideally have either a PA1/ PA2/ PA4S/ PA6 certification. Nurturing and protecting crops with the correct chemicals, water, and fertiliser applications.
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for Plant Biosecurity matters across all sites and the maintenance of our Plant Healthy plant hygiene standards.
Day-to-day responsibility of spraying crops on all sites and managing the team
Follow all H&S procedures and legislation for crop spraying
Mix, load, and apply pesticides onto fields in accordance with label required rates and procedureswith support of experience for either PA1/PA2/PA4S/PA6 certifications
Maintain and repair all necessary application equipment
Calibrate sprayers and chemical application equipment
Proactively identify crop issues in the field while spraying and communicate observations to line managers
Carry out regular crop walks with external crop advisors
Safely operate agricultural equipment and vehicles
Maintain work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices
High level of record keeping and report writing to audit standard
Have the ability to spot a problem and promote action plans and ongoing trial work to deliver workable solutions
Be able to manage sampling schedules and external laboratory work
Have the ability to question and challenge the norm and create new ways of working.
Requisites:
Ability to plan ahead and bring efficiency to the team
Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ideally have either a PA1/ PA2/ PA4S/ PA6 certification
Compliance with H&S regulations
Good career development in a fast moving company
