Senior Software Engineer 2 – Engineering

Key Accountabilities
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
Implement event‑driven architectures leveraging Apache Kafka for real‑time data streaming and messaging.
Develop, configure, and optimize Spring‑Kafka integrations to ensure reliable and high‑throughput message processing.
Participate in architectural discussions, performance tuning, and scalability improvements.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design RESTful APIs and integrate with other microservices.
Ensure best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment.
Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to maintain high availability and performance.
Qualifications
6+ years of professional experience building large‑scale, real‑time cloud systems.
Strong programming and debugging skills in Java.
Proficiency with Spring, Gradle, Spring Boot, and Spring‑Kafka integration.
Experience designing event‑driven architectures with Apache Kafka.
Solid understanding of microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
Desirable: experience with large complex codebases, OpenAPI/Swagger, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Postgres.
In‑Office Commitment This position requires a commitment to work in‑office three days per week in Chicago, IL.
