The Associate Director, Ethics & Compliance Advisor supports Kite Cell Therapy, reports to the US Ethics and Compliance Head, and has the following responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Job Functions
Work with the Senior Director to provide expertise in healthcare compliance and ensure that Kite activities align with the highest ethical and compliance standards.
Partner with leaders across Kite to build and integrate the compliance program into the organization and embed compliance and integrity into Kite’s culture.
Drive global consistency in our compliance program, sharing best practices across Gilead and Kite geographies.
Apply knowledge and experience in practices related to interactions between commercial, medical affairs, and market access.
Participate in activity reviews, advising on ethics and compliance insights and recommendations and engaging stakeholders or subject matter experts when appropriate.
Advise and support the business in operationalizing compliance processes and executing within legal and compliance‑related requirements.
Develop and deliver training and educational sessions to enhance ethics and compliance understanding among stakeholders.
Recognize healthcare compliance risks and enterprise risk, and support the identification of mitigation controls as needed.
Consult on business activities that pose compliance considerations, working closely with the legal and Ethics and Compliance teams.
Partner with the Privacy and Data Ethics team to operationalize requirements related to data privacy, information security, cyber laws, and industry codes.
Support and facilitate policy, training, communications, monitoring, risk assessments, due diligence, transparency, and other compliance needs.
Stay abreast of relevant ethics and compliance developments and industry trends, working with Kite Legal and other Legal/Compliance teams to ensure the organization operates within ethical frameworks.
Lead, inspire, and foster a culture of compliance and integrity.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; a Juris Doctorate or fully qualified legal credentials preferred but not required.
Extensive professional experience in‑house in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries, or law firm experience advising in these fields; majority of career spent in‑house preferred.
9+ years of compliance experience (or 7+ years with an MS/MA, MBA, or PhD).
Management experience and ability to mentor and supervise a team of professionals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Strong knowledge of interactions between commercial, medical affairs, and market access.
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
Judgment and the ability to propose courses of action even when precedent is lacking.
Inquisitive mind with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Collaborative approach with Legal and Ethics & Compliance teams to find ethical and compliant solutions.
Demonstrated commitment to Gilead’s ethics and values, engaging stakeholders with trust and partnership.
Deep understanding of the biopharma industry, Gilead’s objectives, and department challenges.
Prompt response to stakeholder inquiries, demonstrating urgency and timely feedback.
Transparent communication with stakeholders, clearly explaining requirements and decisions.
