Central Knowledge Management Lawyer – Transactions
Summary:
The Central Knowledge Management Lawyer (“Central KM Lawyer”) will be responsible for leading and supporting the development of the knowledge strategy for various transactional practice groups within the firm not supported by an existing dedicated KM Lawyer. The Central KM Lawyer will work with the Knowledge Management Director to assist a number of Global Practice Groups (“GPGs”) and Practice Area Teams (“PATs”).
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with KM Partners and GPG leadership to establish and track KM goals and objectives.
Collaborate with members of GPGs and PATs to assess current KM needs.
Develop, define, and implement procedures to meet those needs and establish a method for consistent review of the KM strategy.
Communicate regularly with other KM Lawyers and Specialists to share best practices.
Improve the design and functionality of collaboration sites and facilitate searchable knowledge repositories.
Assist in the automation of standard forms and templates.
Work with lawyers to generate knowledge content and facilitate sharing.
Implement procedures for maintaining and disseminating information.
Develop and implement consistent communication of resource availability.
Work with the Knowledge Management Director and partners to evaluate current KM efforts and prioritize projects.
Develop workflow improvements for common legal processes.
Assist business development efforts, compiling client pitch materials, etc.
Track information at all matter stages and conduct post‑matter reviews.
Monitor legal and industry developments and trends, providing updates.
Draft and collect thought leadership materials.
Develop and present training on technology platforms.
Identify gaps in training; coordinate with Learning & Development.
Assist in evaluating and deploying innovative technology.
Other duties as required.
Qualification Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school.
Minimum of 4 years transactional law experience in a large firm.
Admitted to practice in Illinois in good standing.
Preferred:
prior experience using Foundation.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills; attention to detail; good judgment; strong interpersonal communication.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work harmoniously and preserve confidentiality.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

Target Salary Range:
$250,000 – $275,000 per year.
