Overview
Doctoral fellowship in History and Theory of Architecture – Institute of History and Theory of Architecture (gta), ETH Zurich. Two fellowship positions, start 1 October 2026, funded for three years (100%, ETH Standard Rate) with possible renewal for one additional year. Responsibilities
Conduct original doctoral research on a topic within the history and theory of architecture and urbanism. The fellowships place no restriction on the geography or time period of the proposed research project. Qualifications
Background in the history and theory of architecture, art, or experience as an architect with research experience. University diploma or master’s degree in architecture, history of art, or related fields. Excellent research and writing skills. We encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply. 100% doctoral salary (ETH standard rate). Participation in the doctoral program of the gta. Academic supervision and mentoring by institute members within a developed research framework (including guidance towards specific methods, materials, and bibliography). Guidance in writing, publishing, and career development. A high‑quality research environment, an engaged and enthusiastic team, excellent research infrastructure, and a workplace on the ETH Hönggerberg campus in Zurich are offered. Application
