is seeking a visionary leader with a record of accomplishment in research, clinical practice, and education to serve as the next

Chair, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine

– an expanding and well‑supported department comprised of more than 70 faculty in a dynamic and multi‑disciplinary environment.

The Opportunity This is an outstanding opportunity for a distinguished leader with a strong academic focus to advance the department across all missions while broadening its impact on the community it serves. As a key contributing member of the hospital and health system leadership team, the Chair will focus on advancing research efforts, high quality multi‑disciplinary care, physician engagement, new program development, and department performance. Promoting a collaborative culture, the Chair will partner closely with health system leaders, faculty, and staff to align departmental strategy with the broader goals of the academic medical center and the community health system and provide a high‑quality standard of practice in an integrated manner. This leader will define the department’s direction and set expectations that supports research/academic activity, clinical excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth across all missions.

The Ideal Candidate

Progressive leadership experience in the specialty of OB/GYN in an academic medical center with a distinguished record of academic experience and productivity.

Completed an accredited residency in OB/GYN and fellowship (if applicable) and current board certification by the ABOG.

Stony Brook Medicine

stands as a premier healthcare, educational, and research enterprise of national renown. With more than 1,400 physicians in nearly 150 specialties; four‑hospital network spanning all of Suffolk County; it is the cornerstone of biomedical knowledge and clinical services for the region. The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine is strongly committed to a multidisciplinary team approach to women’s healthcare, clinical education and research and has 70 providers in seven divisions. Patients are treated in 3 inpatient locations: Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, and at outpatient locations throughout Suffolk County.

The Location Stony Brook is a suburb of New York City, located on Long Island, in Suffolk County, bordered by water on both its north and south shores and offering several waterfront locations that are unrivaled in their beauty, serenity, and recreational fun.
