Position Summary The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) seeks a BC/BE Interventional Spine Physiatrist to practice at the UNC Hospitals Spine and Imaging Center. Responsibilities include comprehensive clinical care for back and neck pain, musculoskeletal disorders, and acute/chronic spine conditions. The physiatrist will perform fluoroscopic and ultrasound‑guided procedures such as epidural, facet, and sacroiliac joint injections, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary spine team focusing on non‑operative treatments. Academic duties include teaching, research, administrative activities, on‑call participation, quality improvement projects, and a strong interest in advancing academic medicine.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R.

MD or DO with NC medical license or willingness to obtain state license.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and a desire to enhance quality of patient care. Successful completion of a Spine and/or Pain fellowship and experience in an academic medical center is desired. Procedures performed will include, but are not limited to: SI joint injections, lumbar facet injections, lumbar medial branch blocks, lumbar RFA, lumbar interlaminar epidural steroid injections, lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections, cervical interlaminar epidural injections, cervical medial branch blocks, cervical RFA, and peripheral joint injections.
