McCrary Institute for Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Security seeks a skilled Cybersecurity Analyst to support safeguarding critical systems. In this pivotal role, you will monitor threats, perform triage, and provide intelligence support within the Security Operations Center (SOC) and Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) framework, working closely with senior cybersecurity professionals across state, local, federal, and critical infrastructure environments. Essential Functions Monitor and Analyze: Continuously monitor security alerts and network activity for anomalies using SIEM platforms and endpoint detection tools. Incident Response: Participate in incident triage, documentation, and escalation to ensure timely and effective resolution. Threat Intelligence: Contribute to OSINT collection and conduct threat research to support proactive defense measures. Security Assessments: Assist in vulnerability scanning, security evaluations, and cyber tabletop exercises to strengthen organizational resilience. Documentation and Reporting: Support the development of project documentation, incident reports, and proposal materials. Collaboration: Work closely with analysts and student teams to execute mission‑critical operational tasks aligned with objectives. Perform other duties as assigned. Why Work at Auburn? Inclusive Community: Welcoming, valued, and engaged environment for all. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Technology. Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Technical Expertise: Foundational knowledge of SIEM tools, scripting, network protocols, malware analysis, and enterprise network/security infrastructure. Cybersecurity Operations: Hands‑on incident response and security monitoring experience; understanding of policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Analytical and Problem‑Solving Skills: Ability to identify, assess, and resolve complex technical issues; communicate findings clearly. Communication and Collaboration: Effective technical writer and collaborator; ability to explain solutions to non‑technical stakeholders and provide customer service. Additional Competencies: Project management experience, organizational skills, and presentation experience for stakeholder engagement. Desired Qualifications While not required, additional experience in advanced cyber threat intelligence, automation frameworks, or specialized security certifications will be considered favorably. Compensation Salary range: $55,690 – $100,250 (subject to experience and qualifications).
