Title: Equipment Operator (non-union). Reports to: Supervisor of Track.

Location: South Florida. The railroad maintenance division, Transdev Rail, Inc., maintains over 70 miles of track from Miami to Mangonia Park.

Overview

Install railroad track and reconstruct existing highway grade crossings along the South Florida Rail Corridor. Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, skid steers, excavators, trisp machines, spiker, spike puller, grapple trucks, etc., and help maintain railroad equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate various on and off-track equipment as required in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure compliance with all railroad rules, regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
• Rehab and install new railroad track.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform daily equipment inspections.
• Work around all types of moving equipment.
• Perform laborer duties as needed.
• Ability to pass railroad rules (GCOR) and RWP training.

Experience / Minimum Qualifications

• Prefer minimum two years’ experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, skid steers, front-end loader, or excavators.
• High School diploma/GED.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Prefer Class A CDL.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and physical exam.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Able to walk, climb and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
